Sorry for the delay in updates. Our internet access has been limited in the last few days.
After spending several hours this morning in Manuel Antonio (a.k.a. the beach), we made a long drive across the country to get to Taras de Cartago. Taras is where the students are having their family stay experience.
Let me just start by saying how much different this trip has been when compared to the trip I took with students two years ago. On the 2010 trip, when the bus pulled up to the town square, and all of our students could see their host families, our students looked terrified. Some were visibly upset, and others were so nervous, they didn't want to leave the bus.
When we pulled into the school parking lot today, and our students could see their host families, it was completely different. Our students were smiling, laughing, and saying how they couldn't wait to see their families. All of our students' host brothers or sisters had made signs, which were very cute and helped to make our students feel more comfortable. As our students pulled away with their new Costa Rican families, all of them smiled and waved to me! I think it will be a great experience!
I will try to upload pictures soon.
P.S. Mason is staying with the principal's family, so he'll have to be on his best behavior. :)
